Can foreigners buy property in the Czech Republic?
The simple answer is that anyone can buy property freely in the Czech Republic, no matter what your nationality.
Previously there were various restrictions which meant that foreigners would either need to set-up a Czech company (sro) in order to purchase the property, or obtain some form of Czech residency (such as temporary residency/EU card), however, these are NO longer in place.
There are also no longer any restrictions on the type of property a foreigner can buy. This means anyone can freely buy an apartment or land without restrictions.
Furthermore, taxes are the same for Czech and non-Czech citizens.
Foreigners can also obtain mortgages in the Czech Republic to finance the purchase of property. Contact us to see how we can help you get a mortgage to buy a property in the Czech Republic.
If you are a non-EU citizen there currently does NOT exist any residency program, whereby if you buy a property you would receive Czech residency (unlike some other countries).
