Tentative signs that property prices are rising in Slovakia
Since the peak of 2008, Slovak property prices either fell or were flat for much of the last 7 years, which has been pretty depressing to report on and even worse for those investors who hold property in Slovakia.
However, 2016 brought some hope back into the market. Our data shows that property prices have finally started to rise by around 5% on average in Slovakia, and slightly more in Bratislava.
After years of the market going nowhere, buyers have held back from buying. This pent up demand, combined with low interest rates on mortgages, is finally starting to show through. And in such situations the rise in prices is likely to further perpetuate demand and prices are likely to continue to rise.
Typical property prices in Slovakia now stand at around 1300 EUR/sqm, and 1800 EUR/sqm in Bratislava.
